Warner Norcross Attorney Authors Section on Wills for Legal Encyclopedia

The work of David L. Skidmore, an attorney with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, will be featured in a forthcoming legal encyclopedia.

Skidmore, who concentrates his practice on probate litigation, is the author of the "Wills" section in the second edition of the Michigan Law and Practical Encyclopedia, which is published by LexisNexis®. Skidmore spent more than a year researching and writing the 300-plus-page chapter on the law of wills, which includes changes to this area of law resulting from the Legislature's enactment of the Estates and Protected Individuals Code in 2000. The first edition of the "Wills" section was originally published in 1958.

"As a firm, we are honored that David was selected for this singular task," said Alex J. DeYonker, managing partner of Warner Norcross. "His extensive knowledge of Michigan probate law made him the ideal candidate to write this chapter, which will provide Michigan attorneys with a comprehensive research resource on the law of wills."

Skidmore is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association. Prior to joining Warner Norcross, he worked as a legislative and budget aide for Alaska State Senator Steve Frank.

Skidmore holds a bachelor's degree with high honors in social science and international relations from Michigan State University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his doctor of jurisprudence from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a Darrow Scholar. He has taught business law at Grand Rapids Community College.

Originally from Rockford, Skidmore now resides in Grand Rapids.
