Warner Attorney Closer To Federal Judge's Seat

Robert Jonker, a Warner Norcross & Judd partner who specializes in environmental and commercial litigation, is closer to serving on the federal bench in the U.S. District Court for Michigan's Western District.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on June 7 approved Jonker's nomination and sent it to the full Senate for confirmation. Jonker earlier this year was nominated by President Bush for the position, and the Senate panel granted its blessing without any objections.

Jonker, along with fellow nominees Paul Maloney and Janet Neff, also has the backing of Michigan's U.S. senators, Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow.

Jonker gained Senate committee approval last year but the full Senate did not vote on the appointment before the end of the year, requiring Bush to resubmit the nominations this year.

All of Bush's judicial nominations are still pending.
