Use caution when screening job candidates via social media

Warner Norcross attorney Steve Palazzolo recently talked with MiBiz about the land mines that human resource departments face when they use Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media to screen job candidates. He cautioned that many of these sites contain personal information that is not job related -- and therefore off limits.

"If you are just on a fishing expedition, I advise HR people to save themselves," Palazzolo told the publication. "Be very careful. You don't want to be out someplace where you're not supposed to be." Read the full story here.
