Two Warner Norcross & Judd LLP partners have been named to leadership positions within the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
Paul T. Sorensen is serving as president of the 1,400-member bar association, while Valerie P. Simmons is serving as president-elect. The following year, Simmons will serve as president. Both attorneys concentrate their practices in litigation and are based in the Grand Rapids office of the Firm.
Sorensen has been active in the legal profession for many years, holding a variety of leadership positions within the Grand Rapids Bar Association and serving as a faculty member and past chair of the Hillman Trial Advocacy Program for the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Michigan. He is the past president of several organizations, including the Western Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Legal Assistance Center, the board of directors of Senior Neighbors and Ada Christian School Foundation. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.
Simmons is active professionally and in the community, serving as a member of the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Section Council and as president of the Floyd Skinner Bar Association in Grand Rapids. She is the immediate past chair of the Michigan Civil Rights Commission and has held numerous board and leadership positions with community organizations, including Grand Valley State University Foundation, Grand Rapids Service Corps, Spectrum Health, Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan and others.
