Mike Stone Discusses Return to Warner with Law360

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorney and Retired Maj. Gen. Michael A. Stone discussed his most recent active duty deployment and return to the firm in a Law360 article.

In his final active duty deployment, Stone served as commander of Task Force 46 in its work supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The task force helped to integrate military doctors, nurses and physician assistants into many of the hardest-hit civilian health care centers across the country.

“You train all these years to work to support FEMA, and a pandemic is one of the 15 scenarios you  train for, but it’s entirely different when you actually live it out,” Stone said.

Stone now resumes his role as co-chair of Warner’s Aerospace and Defense and Government Services Industry Group.

“I'm very happy to be back, and I’m thankful that Warner had its eyes wide open when the firm hired me and knew the commitment I might have to make as a citizen soldier,” Stone said. “They were fully supportive, and we need more employers like that, especially law firms.”

Stone said he found Warner's culture to be highly compatible with his military values: “At Warner, everything’s laid out for upward mobility. Younger attorneys are given a choice in their career path. They open up the books internally, which is surprising because a lot of firms wouldn’t show associates their books. Warner’s culture is all about team, which works well with the military values I grew up with.”
