Douglas A. Wagner, managing partner of the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of its 2011 Leaders in the Law.
Wagner, who is in his sixth year as managing partner, concentrates his practice on litigation, with an emphasis on product liability defense, consumer product regulations and commercial contracts. He will be honored today during a special luncheon in Troy.
During Wagner' tenure as managing partner, Warner Norcross:
Opened new offices in Lansing and Sterling Heights to accommodate firm growth
Focused its Automotive Practice Group exclusively on the representation of suppliers
Added new practice areas to better meet client needs, including Business Start Ups and Early Round Financing, Records Information Management and International Dispute Resolution
Established alternative fee arrangements that focus less on the billable hour and more on results for clients
Joined the ranks of the AmLaw 200, a list of America' top 200 law firms
Received awards for growth, diversity and workplace excellent from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Crain' Detroit Business, The Detroit Free Press and others
Wagner has received numerous honors during his career. He is recognized in Best Lawyers in America, Michigan Super Lawyers and as a Top Litigator by Benchmark Litigation. He has been elected as a fellow to the Litigation Council of American, American College of Trial Lawyers, American Bar Foundation and Michigan State Bar Foundation. Additionally, he was a founding master of the Grand Rapids Inns of the Courts.
Wagner serves on the board of The Right Place Program and D.A. Blodgett-St. John' Home. He is also a member of the West Michigan Honorary Committee of Inforum.
A past president of the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Michigan, Wagner is also a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar Association and Grand Rapids Bar Association.
