Charles E. Burpee Elected President-Elect of Grand Rapids Civic Theatre

Charles E. Burpee, a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been elected president-elect of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre & School of Theatre Arts.

Burpee will serve a two-year term as president-elect before becoming president of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, one of the largest community theatres in the country.  Launched in 1925, Civic now produces nine mainstage productions each year with the help of more than 800 talented volunteers.  The award-winning Civic School of Theatre Arts provides training to more than 1,600 students annually, successfully preparing them to participate in local community theatre and inspiring them to professional careers in all areas of theatre production.

Burpee concentrates his practice in patent law and is a former chair of the firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property group.  Active professionally and in the community, he has served on the board of directors for Civic since 2008.  He currently chairs the board of Clark Retirement Community and is a past chair of Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan and the Michigan Technology Council.  He has also served on the boards of the Gerald R. Ford Council of Boy Scouts of American and the East Grand Rapids School Foundation.
