Associate Life

You can have a career and a life at Warner. Our associate billable hour requirement is 1,750. Unlike other firms, we don't assign associates to specific practice areas. First-year associates have a full year to choose their practice areas. Maybe tax law sounds great - or horrible! Our associates get to decide for themselves.

Detroit 2020

We’re on the move to a new, five-story office and retail building in The District Detroit. Located between the award-winning Little Caesars Arena and the new Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, this makes our new Warner office a main attraction for Summer Associates.

At Warner You Have Choices

We foster a culture of choice that cultivates the best attorneys in the state! You get to decide your own practice areas, and what you want your life to be both inside and outside of the law firm.

"As a first year associate, the firm gave me a ‘liberal arts’ year to explore different practice groups. I worked with a variety of different people, tried out roles and specialties I thought might fit, and just took time to settle into a role and a practice group that felt comfortable. Today, I split my time between employment litigation and criminal law – two fields that weren’t even on my radar in law school. Warner gave me the opportunity to find my niche here.”

“It’s hard to overstate the level of professional support that Warner provides to its associates from day one. As a first-year, I was encouraged to spearhead the formation of a sub-practice group within the firm that would be devoted to the emerging legal issues surrounding autonomous and connected vehicle technologies. Warner associates are free to forge their own career paths in ways that associates at peer firms simply aren’t.”
