Grand Rapids Press calls for clear standards for recusal

On Saturday, June 13, 2009, The Grand Rapids Press published an editorial calling upon the Michigan Supreme Court to adopt clear, written standards for recusal. The Press noted that Michigan is the only state that has not adopted written standards for recusing a justice of the state's highest court. After a cursory discussion of the Michigan Supreme Court's proposals for a new rule governing recusals, the Press changes direction entirely and recommends that the Court do away with electing jurists to the state's appellate courts. The article is here.
