News: Justice Corrigan expected to be appointed head of DHS

Numerous news outlets are reporting that Governor Snyder intends to appoint Justice Maura Corrigan to head Michigan's Department of Human Services. Justice Corrigan's interest and involvement in child welfare issues is well known. According to reports, the appointment is not expected until after Snyder takes office on Saturday so that Snyder will also have the opportunity to choose Corrigan's successor.

Justice Corrigan is the third longest serving justice on the Michigan Supreme Court. She began serving in 1999, and from 2001-2005 served as Chief Justice.
