Hard work. Dedication to Team. Perseverance. Tara exhibited these traits as a member of the University of Michigan's track and field team. She continues to use them in her role as legal advisor for union and nonunion employers. Tara helps employers comply with state and federal employment laws, including the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII and Michigan's Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. She enjoys working with management to establish and implement employment policies and minimize the associated risks.

Representative Experience

  • Represents large and small companies and industries including manufacturing, tool and die and health care
  • Provides legal counsel on employment issues for National Heritage Academies, a management company for 67 charter schools across eight states
  • Assists employers in resolving a wide variety of employment-related issues such as hiring, discipline, termination and leaves of absence; also represents employers before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the MDCR and the UIA
  • Assists management in labor negotiations and in drafting agreements for employment and settlement
  • Helps facilitate training sessions for management regarding employment issues
