Melissa Collar Appointed to Cochair State Bar Subcommittee

Melissa N. Collar, a partner with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been appointed cochair of a Michigan State Bar subcommittee.

Collar, who concentrates her practice in real estate and construction, will serve a one-year term as chair of the State Bar's Construction Subcommittee of the Real Property Section. The subcommittee focuses on new developments in construction and real property law, including public, private and residential projects, alternative dispute resolution and the construction lien act. Collar served as the 2007 cochair of the section's summer conference.

Active professionally, Collar currently chairs the Firm's Construction and Condominium Practice Groups. She writes and presents frequently on a wide variety of real estate and construction topics, and is coauthor of several chapters in The Practitioner's Guide to Construction Law.

A licensed real estate broker, Collar is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women, the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors and the Homebuilders Association of Greater Grand Rapids. She currently serves as a director on the state board of Inforum and on the advisory board of its West Michigan affiliate. She is past chair of the board of directors of Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan and a past director of the Women's Resource Center and Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Ottawa County.
