Experienced tax attorney Jay A. Kennedy has joined Warner Norcross & Judd LLP.
Kennedy brings nearly three decades of corporate, non-profit and individual tax planning experience to his new role as senior counsel. Kennedy concentrates his practice in all aspects of tax law, including complex acquisitions, mergers, corporate separations, tax-dispute resolution and all aspects of Michigan tax law. He will practice in the Firm’s Southfield office.
Prior to joining Warner Norcross, Kennedy was a shareholder of Abbott Nicholson in Detroit, where he chaired the Tax and Estate Planning Practice Group.

Kennedy began his career in Detroit at Coopers & Lybrand, which is now part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, PLLC, where he served as tax manager. He became a CPA in 1981.
Active professionally, he teaches, lectures and writes widely on tax strategies and related business issues. He has been recognized in Michigan Super Lawyers for his work in tax and estate planning. He is a member of the American Bar Associate, the State Bar of Michigan and the Detroit Bar Association. Kennedy currently chairs the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Michigan and is the past chair of the Detroit Bar's Taxation Committee and the former editor of Michigan Tax Lawyer.
Kennedy holds a bachelor of business administration with distinction from the University of Michigan and his doctor of jurisprudence cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
Kennedy is a native of Grosse Pointe Park, where he still resides with his wife, Laura, and their two children.
