Dennis Donohue practices in the area of environmental law, including mining, Clean Water Act permit development and enforcement issues, Safe Drinking Water Act permit development and enforcement issues, water withdrawal and groundwater discharge issues, hazardous waste management issues and sediment remediation.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully assisting major international natural resources companies in obtaining metallic mineral mining permits in upper Midwest
  • Recently negotiated with MDEQ a cleanup plan to address ammonia at the groundwater/surface water interface for the former Whitehall Leather site in Whitehall, Michigan
  • Working with an electric power cooperative on water use and permitting issues associated with construction and operation of a proposed new clean-coal baseload electric power plant
  • Negotiated two major consent decrees addressing sediment contamination for two U.S. EPA Great Lakes Areas of Concern
  • Successfully negotiated and obtained numerous environmental permits for various industrial and manufacturing operations, particularly with respect to water discharges
  • Assisted in the drafting of new mining regulations in Michigan
  • Handled numerous EPA and MDEQ environmental enforcement actions
