Biography

Roquia Draper advocates on behalf of her clients in both family law and in business contract disputes. In the unique practice of domestic relations, she impacts her clients’ lives during difficult divorce proceedings and child custody cases by being the client’s strongest advocate and at the same time, providing reasonably aggressive but measured advice. In addition to her strong advocacy skills, Roquia is also skilled in successfully resolving matters through alternative dispute resolution.  Negotiating successful resolutions is rewarding for Roquia and helps bring closure to otherwise challenging situations.  Case in point: Roquia recently negotiated a failure to disclose a significant asset by a spouse following trial, which resulted in the client obtaining rights in a pension of a significant value, thereby securing a strong financial future for a client. “Divorce is one of the most important, life-changing events,” she says. “I’m very solution oriented and help individuals focus on the important issues now and provide direction to the next stage of their lives.”

In addition to her family law practice, Roquia solves business dilemmas concerning contractual disputes. In a recent business contract dispute, Roquia won summary disposition for a commercial client concerning the issues of liability and damages on a breach of contract claim. “Resolving disputes quickly is gratifying,” she says. “It saves my clients from spending any more valuable time and money on litigation and focusing instead on growing their businesses.”
