The Michigan Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association has appointed Michael E. Wooley, a partner with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, as member of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Liaison Committee.
Wooley, who is based in the firm’s Midland office, has been appointed to serve for the 2019-2020 committee year. The committee engages with the Michigan USCIS district office and provides expertise and liaison assistance to AILA members with cases pending at the local USCIS offices. The committee also coordinates with the AILA national office on problematic trends or issues that may have a national impact.
Wooley focuses his practice on immigration and specializes in working with C-suite officers and general counsels to formulate long-term immigration plans and short-term solutions for U.S. and international companies. Wooley is a published author and regularly speaks on immigration topics to various professional organizations.
In 2017, Wooley was awarded the Leading Lawyers
Client Distinction Award. He has also been named a Top Michigan Immigration Lawyer by The Detroit News
Wooley is the current vice chairman of the Bay City Charter Review Commission and a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Bay County and Saginaw County bar associations. He is a past member of the Bay Arts Council Board of Trustees.
As an active member in the Bay City community, Wooley serves on the board of directors for both New Dimensions, a vocational rehabilitation center in Bay City, and the Japanese Cultural Center, Tea House and Gardens in Saginaw. He was the former city commissioner for Bay City.
